Resident Evil 4, the highly acclaimed horror action adventure game by Capcom, was named Readers' Choice for the 2005 Game of the Year by GameSpot (www.gamespot.com), a leading independent source for gaming information. The tenth annual Readers' Choice Awards allowed GameSpot's audience to choose winners in 20 award categories ranging from "Best Action Adventure Game" to "Best Xbox 360 Game." During the three-week voting period, more than 400,000 votes were cast by GameSpot community members. "Our editors awarded Resident Evil 4 with our top honors in December, and it seems our audience couldn't have agreed more," said Greg Kasavin, executive editor of GameSpot. "The game beat out its closest runner-up by nearly four votes to one." In a couple of categories, the second place game nearly overtook the winner, whereas in other categories there was a landslide. Tekken 5 barely lost to Soul Calibur III in the Best Fighting Game category. Guild Wars almost beat Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King for the Best Role Playing Game. On the other hand, Resident Evil 4 beat Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance by nine votes to one in the Best GameCube game category. -0- *T Following is a sample of other award winners.
