Endwave Wins $1.7M Follow-on Contract from a Major Wireless Telecom OEM SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Endwave Corporation (NASDAQ:ENWV), a leading provider of high frequency RF modules for telecommunications networks, defense electronics and homeland security systems, today announced the receipt of a new contract from a major wireless telecommunications OEM totaling approximately $1.7 million. This contract covers the design and initial production deliveries for new RF subsystems which address two additional licensed frequency bands for point-to-point radios, expanding upon the previous contract award to Endwave that was announced in January of 2007. As wireless infrastructure OEMs roll out new microwave radio platforms for use in backhaul networks, most cellular operators require that a full suite of frequency variants are available to cover any of the possible licenses that are necessary to operate these radios over specific frequency bands. With this new contract award, Endwave will now provide four of the licensed-band variants for this new adjustable data-rate microwave radio platform. As specific frequency requirements are different from country to country, providing RF subsystems on multiple frequency bands helps address a larger scope of global opportunities and reduces the risk associated with changes in market demand for any particular frequency variant. Endwave will design advanced transmit-receive modules covering various licensed frequency bands for communication links operating at data rates from 6 Mb/second to 600 Mb/second. Endwave's RF subsystems will provide key enabling technology for an advanced radio architecture allowing operators to provide scalable transmission capacity based on a common remotely upgradeable platform that spans TDM-based and IP/Ethernet-based radio applications. With ever-increasing voice and data capacity needed for next-generation mobile networks, this is driving an expansion in the mobile core network relying on point-to-point communication links that provide a scalable transmission capacity for operators -- thereby reducing the life-cycle costs of their equipment. "We are excited to secure additional frequency variants and increase our ability to support a greater portion of our customer's world-wide radio business," said Ed Keible, Endwave's Chief Executive Officer and President. "Our expanded role on this adjustable data-rate microwave radio platform indicates the high confidence our customer has in Endwave's ability to bring advanced technology to market in a timely fashion."
