For the third consecutive year, G.I. Jobs, the premier magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has awarded American InterContinental University with the designation of Military Friendly School. The 2012 list of Military Friendly Schools® honors the top 20 percent of universities, colleges and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.

The G.I. Jobs results are based on research conducted on more than 8,000 universities, colleges and trade schools nationwide and surveys of student veterans. This feedback can provide prospective military students with insight into the student veteran experience at particular institutions based on peer reviews from current students. According to G.I. Jobs, the schools on this year’s list prioritize the recruitment of students with military experience. These schools make the grade by offering scholarships and discounts, veterans’ clubs, military credit and other services to those who served.

“The Military Friendly Schools list is the go-to resource for prospective student veterans searching for schools that provide the right overall experience,” said Michael Dakduk, Executive Director for the Student Veterans of America. “Nothing is more compelling than actual feedback from current student veterans.”

“AIU focuses on creating a flexible and effective learning environment that meets the needs of a range of students from all walks of life,” said Stephen J. Tober, CEO of AIU and President of AIU Online. “We are especially proud to serve veterans and the men and women who are currently serving our country in the military, and to help them obtain an education that allows them to reach their goals.”
