American InterContinental University (AIU) and Career Education
Corporation (CEC) have created a month-long Facebook campaign to
benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®). For each new
‘like’ the AIU Facebook page receives during the month of July, AIU
and CEC will donate $1 to RMHC, up to a maximum donation of
$5,000.
After 37 years, RMHC continues to create, find and support
programs that directly improve the health and well-being of
children. RMHC and its network of local Chapters tailor these
programs to address the most urgent needs of each community they
serve through the Ronald McDonald House®, Ronald McDonald Family
Room® and Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® programs, as well as through
grants to other non-profit organizations.
“We are fortunate to be able to support Ronald McDonald House
Charities in a way that involves the participation of our students,
alumni and community on Facebook,” said Steve Tober, President and
CEO of AIU.
As part of the campaign, each U.S. campus of AIU, located in
Houston, Atlanta, and South Florida, will launch a pop-tab drive.
After the tabs are collected at each site, the campus community
outreach manager will take the collection to the local RMHC chapter
for recycling in exchange for the cash value.
In the fall of 2009, CEC announced its corporate commitment to
RMHC, benefiting the organization’s Houses in 52 locations across
the country. In addition to monetary donations, CEC students,
faculty and staff provide volunteer services to support global and
local RMHC operations and programs. To date, CEC students and staff
have contributed more than 3,000 volunteer hours to RMHC.
“Career Education Corporation and AIU are invaluable supporters
of ours as we work to fulfill our mission to help both the children
and the families that we serve. Volunteers from CEC and its
campuses nationwide are frequent volunteers at local houses,
serving families who are coping with their child undergoing
treatment for a serious illness or injury at a hospital far from
home,” said Marty Coyne, president and CEO of RMHC. “Through this
campaign, Facebook users can join AIU and do their part to support
RMHC by a simple click of a button.”
Please visit the AIU Facebook page between July 1 and July 31 to
