California Micro Devices Introduces Family of Packaged EMI Filter
Arrays with ESD Protection CM1406/07 Expand Served Market for
Centurion(TM) Family of EMI Filters for LCD and Camera Interfaces
MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- California Micro
Devices (NASDAQ:CAMD) today announced the availability of the
CM1406 and CM1407, the first products in a new family of packaged
electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter arrays with electrostatic
discharge (ESD) protection. Based on the company's successful
Centurion(TM) advanced zener process technology, the new devices
extend the benefits of Centurion(TM) to handset customers that
prefer solutions utilizing traditional packaging technology. The
CM1406, a four channel EMI filter with ESD protection in a small
form factor 8 lead TDFN package, provides an optimal solution for
LCD and camera interfaces in clamshell wireless handsets. The
CM1407, with 50% lower capacitance than the CM1406, supports higher
resolution displays and imagers and establishes an industry first
level of performance for traditional packaged solutions. Both
devices leverage the company's successful Centurion(TM) advanced
zener process that enables a high level of ESD protection at a
lower capacitance. (Photo:

Leading Performance in a Packaged Format California Micro Devices
has pioneered Application Specific Integrated Passive(TM)
(ASIP(TM)) solutions in chip scale packages (CSP) which provide
industry leading levels of EMI filtering and ESD protection while
minimizing solution form factor. With these introductions,
California Micro Devices is expanding its product portfolio to
offer packaged products that deliver the industry leading EMI
filtering and ESD protection previously available only in CSP.
Superior Filter Performance for Color LCD Displays and Camera
Imagers The CM1406 is implemented in a pi-style
capacitor-resistor-capacitor (15pF-200 Ohm-15pF) configuration with
flow through routing for each channel. Superior filter performance
across all channels is achieved through the large area ground pad
on the bottom of the TDFN package that minimizes parasitic
inductance. As a result, the CM1406 is able to attenuate unwanted
signals at 35dB over the carrier band frequency range of 800MHz to
2.7GHz. The CM1406 features a cut-off frequency of 105MHz, which is
ideal for filtering signals to color LCD display and camera imager
interfaces handling rates up to 40Mbps per data line. The CM1407 is
implemented in a 7.5pF-200 Ohm-7.5pF configuration and is pin
compatible with the CM1406. The CM1407 establishes a new
performance level for packaged filters. With 50% less capacitance
than the CM1406, the CM1407 features a cut-off frequency of 210MHz.
Using the CM1407 in wireless handsets will enable design engineers
to effectively filter out unwanted high frequency noise for high
resolution LCD displays and megapixel camera imagers handling rates
up to 80Mbps per data line. Both solutions offer ESD protection of
.15kV contact discharge. Pricing and Availability The CM1406 is
available in production volume and pricing starts at $0.43 each in
1,000 units. Pricing starts at $0.43 for the CM1407 and samples
will be available in November 2004, while production is scheduled
for January 2005. About California Micro Devices Corporation
