Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), a leader in global
electronic design innovation, today announced it has been named a
finalist for the EE Times and EDN 2012 UBM Electronics ACE Awards
in four categories: Company of the Year, Executive of the Year for
Cadence President and CEO Lip-Bu Tan, Ultimate Product leadership
in software for the Cadence® Virtual System Platform, and Ultimate
Product leadership in SoCs for the Cadence Wide I/O Memory
Controller Design IP.
The awards program honors the companies, people, and products
that are changing the world of electronics. The winners will be
announced March 27 during the DESIGN West conference and expo.
"2011 was a year of significant accomplishment for the Cadence
team," said Lip-Bu Tan, president and CEO of Cadence. "Not only did
we deliver outstanding financial results, but our innovative
products and collaboration with industry leaders resulted in
greater success for our customers. Working closely with leading
ecosystem partners we demonstrated leadership for 20-nanometer and
advanced multicore processor design. We are gratified to see our
efforts and products recognized by UBM Electronics."
Cadence Ultimate Products Finalists Deliver
More Efficiency, Speed Time to Market Designed to enable
maximum system-level performance, the Cadence Wide I/O Memory
Controller Design IP includes advanced algorithms to ensure highly
efficient data transfer and intelligently scheduled transactions.
The IP has the capability to reorder traffic by monitoring system
transactions and delineating between low-priority and
system-critical tasks. These unique capabilities enable the IP to
maximize bandwidth and minimize latency on critical transactions. A
flexible and configurable design allows rapid customization of the
IP for each SoC, reducing risk and time to market.
The Cadence Virtual System Platform simplifies the creation and
support of virtual prototypes with automated modeling and faster
debugging. Design teams can begin developing software weeks or
months before a hardware prototype is available, and software teams
can use it as their application development platform. This Cadence
innovation further streamlines the development process through an
integrated HW/SW debug environment with unique multicore
capabilities. It is connected to the RTL verification flow, and it
automates and accelerates the creation of new transaction-level
models (TLMs).
Product winners will be chosen based on the number of votes from
the public and members of the EE Times and EDN editorial staff. To

"The new ACE Awards program, presented for the first time by
both EE Times and EDN, provides us with an opportunity to recognize
the technologies that have made a difference in the way we work,
live and play over the past year. We congratulate the finalists on
their innovations and leadership in the electronics industry.
Additionally, we look forward to our awards ceremony in March to
celebrate the innovation, creativity and contributions of the
engineering community," said Junko Yoshida, Editor in Chief, EE
Times, UBM Electronics.
