AMSTERDAM, Sept. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- IBC 2013
– Stofa, a leading Danish pay TV operator, has
selected the APEX3000 by ARRIS Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARRS) to
transform its network capacity requirements driven by consumer
demand for bandwidth intensive services such as over the top (OTT)
video.
Stofa required a flexible approach that would allow them to
increase capacity of their network without incurring the expense of
site visits, rewiring or installation of new equipment. The ARRIS
APEX3000 delivers a more efficient way to handle higher demand as
capacity can be increased via simple licensing allowing Stofa to
maximize its operational efficiencies. This model offers both
agility and investment protection for converged video and data
delivery.
Thomas Helbo, CTO at Stofa &
SE Telecom said, "The levels of data our customers are consuming
has risen exponentially as they embrace new services and we needed
a solution to help meet this demand today and increase capacity in
the most efficient manner. The ARRIS APEX3000 gives us an agile
approach which will also allow is to merge our video and data
traffic in the future."
Steve McCaffery, Senior Vice
President, EMEA, ARRIS said: "Not only does the APEX3000 offer
market-leading channel density it presents operators like Stofa
with a smooth transition to CCAP by connecting legacy modular CMTS
architectures with a new converged platform, as well as providing
scalability for future growth services such as video on demand and
nDVR. By transforming networks for tomorrow's entertainment
experiences, we can help reduce upgrade expenses and deliver the
scale that highly competitive cable providers need."
APEX3000 – Density to Meet Demand
The APEX3000
directly addresses the growth trends facing cable operators with
market-leading density that provides more channels in the same
space. The APEX3000 is designed not only to meet growing demand for
data capacity and narrowcast video, but also to serve as a bridge
product for future rollouts of a Converged Cable Access Platform
(CCAP), perfect for those operators following a modular CMTS
architectural transition to CCAP rather than an integrated CCAP
approach also supported by ARRIS.
The APEX3000 was built with capacity in mind; the installation
of a high-density QAM within a cable network leaves channels left
over for future DOCSIS® data use. Whilst many are not ready to
migrate to CCAP right now, the need for a product that can increase
channel capacity now whilst allowing full transition to CCAP later
has never been greater.
