The company hopes to surpass the 140,000 community service hours contributed for the 2009 travel year, and has strengthened the community service curricula in order to provide extended opportunities for its student and adult travelers to give back to communities both domestically and abroad. Each Student Ambassador and Citizen Ambassador Program itinerary dedicates time for community service in which travelers are asked to serve their community and/or participate in an international service project. The 2010 theme is "Education," where travelers are asked to devote time to a cause dedicated to promoting better education in a variety of forms, whether it is related to better educational opportunities for the disadvantaged, education toward a cause, or education around the impact that one can make within their own communities by small projects and actions.
