Coca-Cola Co. (KO) said Thursday that it has created a prototype
bottle made with recycled plastics recovered from the ocean.
"One day, even ocean debris could be used in recycled packaging
for food or drinks," Coca-Cola said.
Coca-Cola said it made around 300 bottles containing between 20%
to 25% recycled plastics, but the U.S. beverage giant didn't
provide an estimate of when this kind of bottle could go on
shelves.
Meanwhile, the company said it will add more recycled plastic to
some of its bottles starting in 2020.
