Sanofi SA (SAN.FR) must meet all emissions and safety
requirements before the French state authorizes a resumption of
activity at the company's Mourenx site, according to a statement
from the French government on Tuesday.
In a joint statement, France's Ecology Minister Nicolas Hulot
and Health Minister Agnes Buzyn said conditions must be risk-free
for employees and local residents before activity can resume at the
site.
"Samples and analyses will be carried out by independent
laboratories on the site and in the vicinity to make sure," the
statement said.
Production at the French pharmaceutical company's chemical plant
in Mourenx, which produces the drug Depakine, was suspended on
Monday following a complaint by France Nature Environnement over
pollution levels.
