Eni SpA (ENI.MI) said Tuesday it plans to build and operate a
large-scale wind farm in Kazakhstan, marking the Italian oil
giant's first big wind-technology investment.
Eni said it will build, develop and operate the 50 megawatt
Badamsha plant in the north west of Kazakhstan, with construction
set to begin in the coming months.
"The commercial-operation date and the connection to the grid is
expected by the end of 2019," Eni said.
Eni said it expects the wind farm to provide 198 gigawatt-hours
annually for the region.
The project is part of an agreement between Eni, General
Electric Co. (GE) and the Kazakh Government to promote
renewable-energy projects in the country, Eni said.
