Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) and France's Thales SA (HO.FR) have
formed a partnership to develop a cloud-computing system for armed
forces, the companies said Tuesday.
The system will be based on Microsoft's Azure Stack cloud
platform, which will be cyber-secured and adapted to military
constraints by Thales, the companies said.
Microsoft and Thales said the system will allow armed forces to
keep their sensitive data inside their own infrastructures.
"Armed forces across the world are investing heavily in digital
transformation, especially in the digitalization of their command
and control and battlefield communications systems, with the
development of collaborative combat," the companies said in a
statement.
The companies didn't disclose financial details.
