Audible Inc., the world’s largest seller and producer of
downloadable audiobooks and other spoken-word entertainment, today
announced the release of The Path to Pride, an audio comedy special
featuring coming out stories from a group of talented performers
and friends. Hosted by Lance Bass and Nikki Levy, the special
features Frank DeCaro (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and Zeke
Smith (Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X and Survivor: Game
Changers). In honor of Pride Month, Audible is offering The Path to
Pride free for download until July 31st at
Audible.com/PathtoPride.
In The Path to Pride, Lance Bass describes his years of touring
as a teen pop star and the series of events which led to him
publicly coming out in his mid-twenties. Frank DeCaro hilariously
discusses his high school crush, Nikki delves into her close
relationship with her mom, and Zeke Smith tells the tale of his
particularly public outing. The special live storytelling offers
heartwarming insight to each of their personal coming out
experiences and celebrates their individual stories in an intimate
and joyful listening experience.
“I’m honored to host this great comedy special for Audible and
share my coming out story alongside the heartfelt and hilarious
stories of my friend Nikki Levy and our guests,” said Lance Bass.
“In celebration of Pride Month, Audible is offering The Path to
Pride for free and we’re hoping everyone will enjoy hearing our
personal experiences and find they are not alone in their
journey.”
“Coming out is literally a storytelling process,” said co-host
Nikki Levy. “It’s telling someone your truth, your story and
sticking to that story no matter what they say! We’re so excited to
share these gems on Audible in honor of Pride Month.”
“The Path to Pride is a celebration of powerful storytelling
that commemorates personal stories through laughter. Each performer
delivers a uniquely touching and deeply funny story about their
personal journeys,” said Audible Originals Editor in Chief, David
Blum.
Lance Bass and Nikki Levy will also host a live event inspired
by The Path to Pride at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in Greenwich
Village on June 25th to continue the Pride Month celebrations. All
proceeds for the event go to The Trevor Project, and tickets can be
purchased at Ticketmaster.
Among the acclaimed performers who have narrated for Audible are
Nick Offerman, Zachary Quinto, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Lily Collins,
Emma Thompson, and Jesse Eisenberg. Audible Studios has won a
Grammy Award, for its production of Janis Ian’s memoir Society’s
Child, and has also been recognized with the Audie Award for
Audiobook of the Year, for Colin Firth’s performance of Graham
Greene’s The End of the Affair. Audible invented and commercialized
the first digital audio player in 1997, and has since been at the
forefront of the explosively growing audiobook download segment. In
2017, listeners around the world downloaded over two billion hours
of Audible content.
