FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.,
June 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/
-- AutoNation, Inc. (NYSE: AN), America's largest automotive
retailer, is celebrating a record-breaking 11 million vehicles sold
by thanking its community partners and customers, those who made
this momentous occasion possible. In 11 markets from coast to
coast, the company is surprising 11 customers by handing them the
keys to their vehicles, payment free.
AutoNation customers Stephanie
Mion, Maria Caridad,
Lauri Fiallo and Jessica Tamayo were speechless this week when
the management team at AutoNation Chevrolet Greenacres, AutoNation
Chevrolet Pembroke Pines, AutoNation Chevrolet Doral and AutoNation
Chevrolet Coral Gables handed each of them the keys to the brand
new vehicles they had planned to purchase, payment free.
On Thursday, June 1st, as a
culmination to the celebration of the company's historic milestone,
AutoNation donated a ProMaster Van to the American Cancer Society's
Road to Recovery program. "Every driver has what it takes to
help save lives," said Sarah Glenz,
Senior Director of Mission Delivery for the American Cancer
Society. "Drivers can donate their passenger seat and volunteer to
take cancer patients to treatment through the American Cancer
Society's Road to Recovery program. An estimated 3.6 million
Americans delay or have difficulty getting needed medical care each
year due to the lack of available and affordable transportation to
treatment. We're thankful to AutoNation for their support in
reducing transportation barriers to cancer treatment."
Through its Drive Pink Initiative, AutoNation has donated nearly
$11 million to cancer-related
charities across the country. The Company has celebrated this
historic milestone with other van donations to the Moffitt Cancer
Center in Tampa, the Nevada
Children's Cancer Foundation in Las
Vegas and Brent's Place in Denver. Recently, AutoNation was named one of
America's top 100 Corporate Citizens by Forbes Magazine and Just
Capital due to its commitment to community well-being and its fight
against cancer.
AutoNation Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mike Jackson said, "The extraordinary
accomplishment of being the first automotive company to sell 11
million vehicles is an opportunity to show our appreciation to
those who work hard every day in the fight against cancer and to
our customers who have made this historic moment possible."
