The National Business Group on Health honors
Health Net for reducing health care disparities and advancing
health equality in the community
The National Business Group on Health recently honored Health
Net, Inc. with the 2017 Innovation in Advancing Health Equity
Award.
Health Net received the award for its ongoing commitment to
advancing health equity in the community, reducing health care
disparities and helping employees and their families achieve
optimal health and well-being in California.
“We congratulate Health Net on its strategic efforts to address
health equity,” said Brian Marcotte, President and CEO of the
National Business Group on Health. “Health Net’s interventions
using geospatial mapping specifically address the social, economic
and environmental factors that are strong contributors to
inequities. Plus, its use of multi-pronged interventions at the
community, provider, member and system-level touch points to help
improve childhood immunization rates and increase treatment rates
for postpartum depression are innovative and inspiring.”
“We are honored to be recognized for our unwavering commitment
to addressing health care disparities through our workplace and
community initiatives,” said Steve Sell, president of Health Net of
California. “We’re particularly proud of Health Net’s Childhood
Immunization Series that recently showed a compliance-rate increase
of 7 percent, and our Postpartum Project for African-American women
that featured a 40-percent gap reduction and increased compliance
from 17 percent to 33 percent. These are just two of the
initiatives that Health Net implemented last year, and there’s more
on the horizon as we focus on transforming the health of the
community, one person at a time.”
