HERNDON, Va., Oct. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Smart Grid
Solutions (SGS) has been awarded a contract by Consolidated Edison
Company of NY, Inc. and Orange & Rockland (O&R) Utilities,
Inc., both regulated operating companies of Consolidated Edison,
Inc. (NYSE: ED), to install electric smart meters and gas smart
modules.
The contract also includes building the supporting
communications network for territory-wide coverage using SGS's
industry-leading ProFieldMETER technology.
The contract is part of a landmark plan to deploy Advanced
Metering Infrastructure (AMI) across Consolidated Edison Inc.'s
service territory, which covers New York
City and Westchester
County, and Orange & Rockland's service territory, which
includes those two New York
counties, as well as adjacent parts of northern New Jersey. Approximately 3.9 million electric
meters and 1.3 million gas meters are involved.
