China's Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. (0013.HK)), owner of U.K. mobile
operator 3 Group, is preparing a bid for either EE or Telefonica
S.A.'s (TEF) O2, Reuters reported Thursday on its website, citing
several people familiar with the matter.
BT Group PLC (BT) already is in deal talks with O2 and EE, owned
by Orange (ORAN) and Deutsche Telekom AG (DTEGY).
A potential bid from Hutchison Whampoa could come before the end
of the year, the people said.
Hutchison representatives were not immediately available for
comment, Reuters reported.
