The International Council of Shopping Centers and Goldman Sachs Retail Chain Store Sales Index edged up 0.1% in the week ended Saturday from the previous week on a seasonally adjusted, comparable-store basis.

Business was strong for apparel retailers, dollar stores, wholesale clubs and discounters, according to Michael Niemira, ICSC vice president of research and chief economist. "Business was also strong at electronic stores--possibly buoyed by the release of Apple's iPhone 6."

On a year-to-year basis, the weekly reading increased 4.1%.
