U.K.-based coal miner Churchill Mining PLC (CHL.LN) Monday said it has received three separate and unconnected non-binding approaches, one of which is regarding a possible takeover offer.

Churchill, which will continue talks with all three parties, said two of the approaches are regarding the possible acquisition of Churchill's specific projects, while the third relates to a possible offer for the company as a whole.

In a statement noting its recent share price increase and press speculation, Churchill said the three approaches are at various stages and subject to due diligence.

The miner added that there is "no basis" to press speculation linking it with BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP.AU).
