The following table lists unplanned and planned production
outages at U.S. refineries as reported by Dow Jones Newswires. The
information is compiled from both official and unofficial refining
sources and doesn't purport to be a comprehensive list.
Most recently, Flint Hills Resources will shut several units at
its Corpus Christi, Texas, refinery for unplanned work. The naptha

shut as early as Wednesday; the work may also necessitate the
shutdown a gas oil hydrotreater.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said Tuesday that the coker unit at
its St. Charles refinery in Norco, Louisiana, will operate at 50%
of capacity when it is restarted. The unit was shuttered on June 9
by what was described at the time as a "minor" fire. Valero has
reduced coker rates at other refineries.
Valero also said Tuesday that it has delayed 42 days of
turnaround maintenance its Delaware City, Delaware, refinery FCCU
until 2010 from September of 2009, and reiterated its intention to
perform plantwide maintenance in September at its refinery in Three
Rivers, Texas.
Frontier Oil Corp. (FTO) will in October start 30-40 days of
scheduled turnaround maintenance at an FCCU and hydrotreater unit
at its El Dorado, Kansas, refinery. The work will be concluded in
November, the co. said on July 27.

Calif., refinery was taken off-line on July 21 for three weeks of

a July 4 fire at a hydrotreater unit, the co. said on July 27.
And a crude unit, vacuum unit and coker unit are still off-line
at Valero's Norco, Louisiana, refinery. Those units were shut by a
fire on June 9.
A SCOT unit and sulfur recovery unit at Valero's Port Arthur,
Texas, refinery went off-line on July 26 due to a power
interruption; the event had no impact on production. It is not
clear whether the units were restarted, the co. said on July
27.
Total Petrochemicals USA (TOT) Sunday began 10 days of planned
maintenance at a Sulfur Recovery Unit at its Port Arthur, Texas,
refinery.
And ExxonMobil (XOM) said a unit at its Torrance, Calif.,
refinery could be restarted as early as Sunday; the unit wasn't
identified, but a hydrogen unit, a sulfur recovery unit and a coker
unit in July. The restart process was expected to conclude by
August 1.
Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) said an upset at its Wilmington,
Calif., refinery on July 23 resulted in flaring. The filing to
California state environmental regulators did not say if the event
had an impact on production.
Citgo on July 20 shut the East Plant FCCU at its Corpus Christi,
Texas refinery owning to the July 19 East Plant alkylation unit
fire, according to a report to Texas state environmental
regulators. The fire is under control as emergency crews were
on-site while residual hydrocarbons burn off, the Co. said.

was back to normal operations July 20 following a lightning strike
Saturday that disabled power to an emergency generator.
And Valero (VLO) July 20 reported a brief snag at the coker unit
at its Benicia, California refinery. The event had no material
impact on operations, the company said.

Texas City, Texas refinery; the unit was shuttered by an explosion
during the last week of July in 2005.
On Friday, a person familiar with operations at BP's Carson,
Calif., refinery said the FCCU and associated units shut over the
July 11-12 weekend would be restarted at the end of the month.
ConocoPhillips (COP) recently shut an FCCU at its Alliance
refinery in Belle Chasse, La., for unplanned maintenance, a trade
source said July 15. The work is expected to take seven to 10
days.
And repairs are ongoing at Valero Energy Corp.'s (VLO) St.
Charles refinery in Norco, La., the company said on July 13. A fire
on June 9 shut the crude unit, the vacuum unit and a coker unit;
the outages weren't expected to be lengthy at that time. There is
no restart estimate yet.
Valero on July 7 said that the crude and fluid catalytic
cracking units at its Ardmore, Okla., refinery still aren't
producing any product following a power outage and fire. The fire
was put out, but the hydrotreater is still shut down, a company
