Independent Reserves and Contingent Resources Assessment 
 
 
Venture Production plc ('Venture'), the Aberdeen based UK independent oil and 
gas company, today announces the results of an independent reserves and 
contingent resources evaluation of Venture's asset base as of 31 March 2009. 
 
 
The Company's reserves and contingent resources were independently evaluated by 
DeGolyer and MacNaughton ('D&M') in accordance with the Petroleum Resources 
Management System ('PRMS') guidelines. The use of the PRMS guidelines as a basis 
for the estimates was chosen due to their acceptance by the United Kingdom 
Listing Authority ('UKLA'). 
 
 
The Company's net reserves and contingent resources can be summarised as

  *  Probable and Possible reserves are not adjusted to account for risk and thus are 
  not comparable to Proved reserves. 
  *  Contingent Resources are those volumes of potentially recoverable petroleum from 
  known accumulations that are not currently considered to be commercially 
  recoverable. 
  *  2C denotes the 'best estimate' scenario of Contingent Resources as defined by 
  PRMS. 
  *  Natural gas liquids ('NGL') include condensate and plant liquids where 
  applicable.

Bcf          Billions of standard cubic feet (measured at 60oF, 14.696 pounds 
per square inch)
