          Appointment of Non-Executive Director

The board of Christian Salvesen PLC is pleased to
announce the appointment of Dr ir Antonie (Toon) Edelman
as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Dr Edelman, a Nederlander, is a former member of the Food
Executive Board of Unilever and has a wide-ranging
experience in logistics.

Commenting on the appointment, Edward Roderick, Chief
Executive said:  "This appointment is in line with the
Group's stated aim of adding Mainland European experience
to the Board."
