LONDON--Glencore PLC (GLEN.LN) has agreed to lease land and
equipment in Zambia held by its Sable Zinc Kabwe Ltd. unit to BMR
Mining PLC (BMR.LN) so the latter can build a proposed pilot plant
adjacent to its tailings dump.
The lease will last 12 months at a cost of $1,000 per month.
"This is a particularly valuable agreement for BMR as it
provides us with access to prime space for our pilot plant and
access to good quality equipment which we would otherwise have had
to purchase, and most likely transport to Kabwe," said Alex
Borrelli, chairman of BMR.
"We are refining the costing of the Pilot Plant, in light of
recent changes which have enhanced the quality of the output, and
will provide a further update in due course."
BMR is developing a pilot plant for its Kabwe lead and zinc
project in Zambia that will be able to process a minimum of five
tons of tailings or waste rock an hour.
