Rudolph and Sletten, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded the contract for preconstruction services for the new Stanford Concert Hall at Stanford University. Construction of the world-class concert hall will begin in December 2009 and will be completed in the spring of 2012. The 900-seat facility, which is located across Palm Drive from the Cantor Arts Center, is being designed by Polshek Partnership Architects, with Nagata Acoustics Inc. and Fisher Dachs Associates, theater planners. The Stanford Concert Hall was made possible by a lead gift from Helen and Peter Bing, 55. What we are designing and planning to build will be a world class facility on par with the top concert halls in the world, said Doug Collins, Project Executive with Rudolph and Sletten. The design and construction team was chosen by Stanford University specifically to deliver a world class product. The concert hall is being designed to be an acoustically exceptional hall that will be well suited for a range of music groups, including chamber, jazz, orchestral, multimedia, concert opera, and choral programs. The two-story, 90,000 square foot facility is being built with curved walls and surfaces which promote acoustical quality, and require special expertise for fabrication. The hall will also be constructed as a building within a building to isolate the structure from outside acoustic interference. Rudolph and Sletten has completed over 40 projects at Stanford University, including the Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Center for the Visual Arts. Rudolph and Sletten has also constructed a number of performing arts venues, including the Donald and Maureen Green Music Center at Sonoma State University and the Community School of Music and the Arts (CSMA) in Mountain View. Rudolph and Sletten also served as the construction manager for the historic Fox Theatre in San Jose, new home to Opera San Jose. About Rudolph and Sletten, Inc. Rudolph and Sletten, Inc.
