JCPenney Owners Make Offer to Buy Kohl's, Sources Tell NY Post -- Update

--Simon Property Group Inc. and Brookfield Asset Management
Inc., the owners of retailer JCPenney, have made an offer to buy
Kohl's, The New York Post reports Monday, citing "sources close to
the talks."
--The deal could value Kohl's at more than $8.6 billion, the
report said.
--A spoksperson for Kohl's said the company doesn't comment on
rumors or speculation.
--Requests for comment from Simon Property and Brookfield
weren't immediately returned.
