Anthem Raises 2021 Earnings, Operating Revenue Guidance

Anthem Inc. said it raised its earnings and operating revenue
guidance as it posted higher overall revenue for the second
quarter.
The Indianapolis-based insurer on Wednesday said it expects
earnings to be greater than $24.89 a share, including about 61
cents a share of net unfavorable items. It sees adjusted earnings
of greater than $25.50 a share.
Anthem said it sees operating revenue of about $137.1 billion,
including premium revenue of $116.5 billion to $117.5 billion.
The company previously saw earnings of greater than $24.05 a
share, including about $1.05 a share of net unfavorable items, as
well as adjusted earnings of greater than $25.10 a share. Its prior
operating revenue guidance was about $135.1 billion, including
premium revenue of $114.5 billion to $115.5 billion.
Anthem said it expects medical membership of 44.8 million to
45.3 million, compared with its previous outlook of 44.1 million to
44.7 million.
