The French government is favorable to the proposed merger
between Italy's Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA.MI) and France's
Renault SA (RNO.FR), government spokeswoman Sibeth Ndiaye said
Monday.
The government is favorable to the project but will have to
"look at the conditions under which the deal will be done," Mrs.
Ndiaye said during an interview with French business TV channel
BFTMTV and RMC radio. "This is a discussion we will have, also as
Renault's shareholder, with the company," she added.
French finance minister Bruno Le Maire has already met with
Renault's Chairman Jean-Dominique Senard at the end of last week to
talk about the merger proposal, Mrs. Ndiaye said.
The French government is Renault's main shareholder, with a 15%
stake in the car company.
