Limited-edition player whiskies, uniquely
crafted to celebrate each of the featured Alumni
TORONTO, May 2, 2019 /CNW/ - Corby Spirit and Wine
Limited's award-winning Canadian whisky, J.P. Wiser's, is set to
launch the second installment of its Alumni Whisky Series. J.P.
Wiser's and the NHL Alumni Association ("NHLAA") are partnering
once again to honour the past in both hockey and whisky tradition.
For the release, the hat trick of players includes Paul Coffey, Larry
Robinson, and Darryl
Sittler.
"This partnership has helped raise awareness of the NHLAA's
initiatives and efforts in supporting retired hockey players, and
their adjustment to life after playing in professional careers.
We're pleased to continue working with J.P. Wiser's and we're
excited for the next launch of whiskies," said Glenn Healy, former professional league champion
and Executive Director of the NHLAA. Part of the proceeds received
from this whisky collaboration will be invested back into the
retired player community.
Paul, Larry and Darryl visited the home of J.P. Wiser's –
Hiram Walker & Sons Limited
Distillery in Windsor, Ontario
(Distillery of the Year, Canadian Whisky Awards 2019) to
understand the craftsmanship behind Canadian whisky with Master
Blender, Dr. Don Livermore
(Blender of the Year, Canadian Whisky Awards 2019). As a
result, the player whiskies in the series are uniquely blended to
reflect each alumni's playing style and achievements. The
highly-anticipated second release includes:
Paul Coffey
At 48% ABV, this 2-grain whisky is rich & smooth like Coffey's
stride on the ice. Aged in 4 distinct barrels for 7 years, this
whisky perfectly pays tribute to #7's historic 48 goal season.
Larry Robinson
Big and
smooth like Larry's play, this 2-grain whisky is aged for 6 years
in 6 different barrels, in commemoration of his 6 championship
wins.
Darryl Sittler
Aged in
Canadian and bourbon barrels for 10 years, this balanced 4-grain
blend is well-rounded, just like Darryl on the ice.
"We were humbled by the success of the first launch back in
October and we're thrilled for this next installment to be
nationally available," says Derek
Wagner, Assistant Brand Manager, Canadian Whisky, Corby
Spirit and Wine Limited. "With future lineups and player
whiskies in the works, we are excited to continue working with the
NHLAA to celebrate their members and help support their social
mandate."
The Alumni Whisky Series is a one-time-only player release. In
contrast to the whiskies in the first installment of the Alumni
Whisky Series, which were available only in certain provinces,
Canadians across the country will now have a chance to purchase all
of these premium, collectible player whiskies this spring.
