has announced the addition of the "China Information Technology
Report Q1 2012" report to their offering.
Business Monitor International's China Information Technology
Report provides industry professionals and strategists, corporate
analysts, information technology associations, government
departments and regulatory bodies with independent forecasts and
competitive intelligence on China's information technology
industry. IT spending is forecast to reach US$124.4bn in 2012,
increasing to US$192.3bn by 2016. Despite an expected moderation in
investment and retail spending over the next year, an expansion in
consumer credit and modernisation drive in sectors such as
education, healthcare, and manufacturing will sustain market
growth.
Spending growth is forecast at around 14% in 2012, which is a
slight slowdown compared with 2011. Owing to government stimulus
packages and a recovering economy, PC shipments recorded robust
growth of 16% in 2010, and equally robust growth in 2011. However,
growth has decreased slightly, owing to government economic cooling
measures. Rural areas and lower-tier cities and towns will be among
the fastest growing segment of the PC market.
Several factors, including a vast potential rural market,
government spending, and gradual modernisation in sectors such as
education, healthcare, and manufacturing will help sustain market
growth. Growing interest in cloud computing will drive vendor
investment and attract new players into the market and will be
further stimulated by the launch of government pilot
programmes.
Industry Developments The China government is driving the
integration of internet, broadcasting and communications networks.
The campaign has the potential to boost sales of PCs and other
connectivity devices, including in smaller city markets. The
government has selected a number of cities for trials, including
second-tier cities such as Mianyang in Sichuan and Zhuzhou in
Hunan, each with populations of around 5mn.
