Insurer has appeared among FORTUNE's best companies to work for
since 1999 COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Aflac
Incorporated has been selected to FORTUNE magazine's annual 100
Best Companies to Work For in America list for the tenth
consecutive year. The leading insurer catapulted to number 30 on
the revered listing and is the top ranked company headquartered in
Georgia to make the list. FORTUNE magazine cited Aflac for allowing
shareholders a "say on pay" vote in 2008 and its top compensation
package - pension, profit sharing, and 401(k) match. The company
was also recognized for its philanthropy, diversity, job creation
and on-site child care program, which is the largest in the state
of Georgia. "It is a great honor to be distinguished among the best
workplaces in America for the tenth year in a row," said Dan Amos,
Aflac chairman and CEO. "This recognition exemplifies Aflac's
talented, dedicated and resilient employees who consistently
deliver excellence. This exclusive designation underscores Aflac's
ongoing commitment to giving back to the community and providing
quality customer service." The company's employees are involved in
many philanthropic organizations, such as Boys and Girls Clubs,
Habitat for Humanity and the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood
Disorders Service of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Aflac has
raised nearly $40 million to benefit the Aflac Cancer Center with
the support from its employees and sales associates. More than 400
companies were evaluated based on their corporate policies, culture
and employee opinions. Randomly selected employees from each
company responded to the most extensive employee survey in
corporate America, which was conducted by the Great Place to Work
Institute in San Francisco. Most of the company's score was based
on credibility (communication to employees), respect (opportunities
and benefits), fairness (compensation and diversity) and pride
(philanthropy and recognition programs). The complete list and
related stories will appear in the February 4 issue of FORTUNE,
available on newsstands January 28 and at http://www.fortune.com/
on January 22. About Aflac For more than 50 years, Aflac products
