In accordance with the new Transparency Rules the Company was informed on 21
February 2007 by Hermes Investment Management Limited, on behalf of Royal Mail
Pension Trustees Limited that, in fulfilment of their obligations under
Disclosure and Transparency Rule 5, as at close of business on 20 January 2007,
they were interested in a total of 7,935,155 ordinary shares of 5p each in the
Company ("Ordinary Shares") representing 4.76 per cent. of the Company's current
total issued ordinary share capital of 166,582,833 Ordinary Shares.
