               INVESTEC EUROPEAN GROWTH & INCOME TRUST LIMITED

Following the above Company's listing on 20 October 2000, we write to provide
details of the following interests in the issued ordinary share capital of the
Company which have since been notified to us.

Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited have purchased 3,000,000 shares of the above
Company on 25 April 2001, on behalf of the Media & Income Trust plc.  The Media
& Income Trust plc now holds 4,000,000 shares representing 6.04% of the issued
share capital of that class (previously 1.51%).

Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited have sold 3,000,000 shares of the above Company
on 25 April 2001 on behalf of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust plc.  Aberdeen
Preferred Income Trust plc now holds 4,000,000 shares representing 6.04% of the
issued share capital of that class (previously 10.57%).

The total number of share managed by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited and its
associated companies remains 16,000,000 shares representing 24.15% of the issued
share capital of that class.
