Charles Stanley appointed nominated broker

LONDON: 17th March, 1999 - Firestone Diamonds plc, (FDI.L) the UK-based
diamond mining and exploration company, announces that following the purchase
by Charles Stanley and Company Limited of the business of Burrough Johnstone
Limited, Charles Stanley has been appointed as sole nominated broker to
Firestone Diamonds in place of Burrough Johnstone and IA Pritchard
Stockbrokers Limited.  The appointment of Charles Stanley is effective
immediately.  John East & Partners Limited continue as Firestone's nominated
adviser.

Mr Philip Kenny, Firestone's chief executive, said: "We are pleased to have
Charles Stanley working with us and look forward to a fruitful long term
relationship. The acquisition by Charles Stanley of the business of Burrough
Johnstone will ensure that the people who worked with us to launch Firestone
successfully last year will continue to work on our behalf, in addition to
which we will now be supported by a much larger organisation."
