Firestone Diamonds plc ("the Company") announces that it received notification
on 9 January 2006 from AXA S.A. that it has a notifiable interest in 4,945,984
Ordinary Shares of 20p each, representing approximately 8.87% of the current
issued ordinary share capital of the Company.  Framlington HSBC is the
beneficial owner of 4,895,984 of these shares, representing approximately 8.78%
of the current issued ordinary share capital of the Company.  Sun Life Pensions
Management Limited is the beneficial owner of 50,000 of these shares,
representing approximately 0.09% of the current issued ordinary share capital of
the Company.
