Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE) said on Thursday that some of its vehicle
plants in China would resume production after Feb. 9, with plants
in the Shanghai region reopening on Feb. 10, amid an extended
holiday period in the country.
The German car maker said FAW-Volkswagen vehicle plants--based
in Chengdu, Foshan, Qingdao and Tianjin--would resume production
after Feb. 9, while SAIC Volkswagen vehicle plants in the Shanghai
region will reopen on Feb. 10.
"The company will continue to evaluate the situation as it
develops, making adjustments if necessary," Volkswagen said in a
statement, adding that "the supply chain is on track" with no
changes to planned deliveries.
The announcement comes as Chinese authorities extended the Lunar
New Year holiday to 10 days, and even longer in some cities, in a
bid to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.
