WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- R.J. Reynolds
Tobacco Company recently appointed Martin L. ("Mark") Holton III
general counsel. In his new role, Holton will oversee all legal
matters for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Holton reports directly
to Lynn Beasley, president of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, and
will coordinate with E. Julia ("Judy") Lambeth, executive vice
president and general counsel for Reynolds American Inc., on legal
issues. Holton joined R.J. Reynolds as vice president and assistant
general counsel -- litigation in March 2002. He began his legal
career in 1982 as an associate at Ford and Harrison in Atlanta, Ga.
He Joined Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC in 1984 as an
associate and became a partner there in 1990. A native of High
Point, N.C., Holton earned a bachelor's degree in economics from
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a law degree
with honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law in
