OfficeMax to Open Second Independence, MO Store New Superstore
Showcases Updated Interior Design With Easy Access to Office,
School Supplies and Copy/Print Center ITASCA, Ill., Dec. 1
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- OfficeMax(R) (NYSE:OMX), one of the
nation's largest office supply retailers, will celebrate the grand
opening of its second Independence, Mo. superstore on Sunday,
December 5. The 22,000-square-foot OfficeMax located at 19020 East
39th Street South in Independence Commons provides a one-stop shop
for all office-related needs. The store will employ approximately
35 full- and part-time associates. The first 100 customers in the
store on Sunday, December 5 and Monday, December 6 will receive
free gift bags filled with OfficeMax items. In addition, radio
station KFKF-FM 94.1 will broadcast live from the store from noon
to 2 p.m. on December 5 and give away prizes. In-store customers
can register for a chance to win prizes such as a DVD/VCR player,
TV/VCR combo, OfficeMax gift cards and a digital camera. "OfficeMax
offers shoppers great gift ideas and we are delighted to be opening
a new store in Independence just in time for the holiday season,"
said Gary J. Peterson, OfficeMax president - retail. OfficeMax
currently has 23 stores in Missouri. The OfficeMax superstore
features comprehensive services and a new store design to help
customers find what they need quickly and easily, including: --
Full-service copy and print center, offering digital printing,
color copying and desktop publishing -- A wide variety of
ready-to-assemble office furniture and a design assistance center
-- Updated store interior with more product signage and lower sight
lines, allowing shoppers to see where they want to go as they enter
the store -- Products arranged by categories, making browsing
easier -- Professional and affordable computer networking and PC
installation services for home and office computer users OfficeMax
employees are outfitted with wireless headsets and can quickly
answer questions about products or services, thanks to direct
communication with information resources. OfficeMax calls this
"boundless service" -- providing faster and better customer service
without departmental boundaries. The store will be open from 8 a.m.
to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. OfficeMax has named Sandy Perbeck as
