OfficeMax Names Bruce H. Besanko Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

NAPERVILLE, Ill., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- OfficeMax Incorporated
(NYSE:OMX) today announced that Bruce H. Besanko will assume the
role of executive vice president and chief financial officer
effective February 16, 2009. Besanko, 50, served most recently as
executive vice president, finance and chief financial officer for
Circuit City Stores, Inc. "We are very excited to have Bruce join
our management team," said Sam Duncan, chief executive officer and
chairman of the board for OfficeMax. "Bruce brings a strong
background in business and financial leadership that will further
strengthen our management team, and we look forward to his many
contributions." Before joining Circuit City in 2007, Besanko was
senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer for The
Yankee Candle Company, Inc., a leading designer, manufacturer,
wholesaler and retailer of premium scented candles, from 2005 to
2007. He served as vice president, finance for Best Buy Co., Inc.
from 2002 to 2005. Besanko also held several financial leadership
positions of increasing responsibility from 1996 to 2002 in the
hardlines business at Sears, Roebuck & Co. Prior to that he
held various finance, accounting and treasury positions with
Atlantic Richfield Company, a global oil and gas enterprise, from
1992 to 1996. Besanko is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati
and received his master of business administration degree in
