In the spirit of helping people reach their full potential,
OfficeMax (NYSE:OMX), a leading provider of office equipment and
services, is teaming up with Goodwill Industries for the second
OfficeMax Great Chair Trade Up Event, taking place in all stores
nationwide June 10-16, 2007. OfficeMax customers that bring a
gently-used office chair to their local OfficeMax store during the
event will receive a 10-percent discount on a new office-chair
purchase. OfficeMax will donate all usable chairs to Goodwill for
resale, helping Goodwill fund career services for people with
disabilities and vocational disadvantages in local communities.
The office chair is very representative of the person and their
business it is literally their platform for fostering new ideas
and building their business, said Ryan Vero, executive vice
president and chief merchandise officer for OfficeMax. This
trade-up event gives our customers the opportunity to upgrade their
office chairs, and while doing so, also help less fortunate
individuals in their communities chart a new life course and set
their career aspirations in motion. All chairs collected through
the OfficeMax Great Chair Trade Up event will be donated to
Goodwill Industries and will help the local individuals on their
path to self-sufficiency. Every donation to Goodwill is an
investment in the economic health of your community, says Doug
Barr, president and CEO of Goodwill Southern California (GSC). At
Goodwill, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to earn a
paycheck and support themselves and their families. When someone
is having a hard time finding a job either because of a
disability, poverty, lack of education and work experience or
another obstacle Goodwill is there to help. The organization does
this by selling donations of clothing and household items in
Goodwill stores and using the revenue to fund job training programs
that benefit hundreds of thousands of people each year.It also
offers an assembly and fulfillment, computer recycling, custodial
and building as well as secure shredding services to businesses in
its service area. About OfficeMax OfficeMax Inc. (NYSE:OMX) is a
