First Intelligence Community CIO Views Focus On Cyberspace As a
National Imperative WASHINGTON and MELBOURNE, Fla., June 8
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dale Meyerrose, the first CIO for the
National Intelligence Community and now vice president and general
manager for Cyberspace Solutions at Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS),
will deliver a keynote address at the "Collaboration in Cyberspace"
symposium to be held June 16-18 at the Shreveport Convention Center
in Louisiana. The event is sponsored by the Cyber Innovation
Center, provisional Air Force Cyber Command, AFCEA (Arklatex
Chapter), and is co-sponsored by Electronic Systems Center (CIC).
Meyerrose, a strong advocate of the need to make cyberspace a
trusted domain for both government and private sectors, will speak
on the topic "Thinking About Cyberspace Globally" at 10:30 a.m.
central time on June 18. He believes cyberspace must be a national
priority, complete with a staffed office headed by a respected
leader who works with the President and his closest advisors.
"Cyberspace is indispensable to modern society and an integral part
of our global economy. The time has come for us to have a serious
public discourse about it," said Meyerrose. "We can't afford to
continue a business as usual approach." Meyerrose, who is also a
retired Air Force Maj. Gen., joins other distinguished speakers
scheduled to address the symposium, including George Kurtz, senior
vice president and general manager, McAfee; John Stewart, chief
security officer, CISCO; Bill Bryan, deputy assistant secretary for
Infrastructure Security and Energy Restoration, U.S. Department of
Energy; and Harry Raduege Jr. of the Deloitte Center for Network
