ENI SpA (ENI.MI) said Thursday that it has signed an agreement to develop electric-vehicle charging stations in Italy with Ionity, a joint venture comprising several car makers.

Ionity, whose members include Daimler AG (DAI.XE), Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE), Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (BMW.XE) and Ford Motor Co. (F) plans to install 180 chargers across 30 sites in Italy, Eni said.

Each station will incorporate six 350-kilowatt chargers capable of charging an electric vehicle in 20 minutes, the company said.
