Jordan's Ministry of Trade and Industry has bought some 150,000 metric tons of wheat for delivery in April, a senior Jordanian grain official said Thursday.

He said the kingdom bought some 100,000 metric tons of wheat from Glencore International PLC (GLEN.LN) at two different prices. Some 50,000 metric tons were bought at $320/ton C&F, while the remaining 50,000 tons were purchased at $321.50/ton C&F. Both shipments would be delivered at the first half of April, the official told Dow Jones Newswires.

Jordan also bought another 50,000 metric tons of wheat from Noble at $318.69/ton C&F for delivery during the second half of April, he said.

The purchases were the outcome of a tender of 100,000 tons which closed Wednesday.

The official said four other companies, including Cargill Inc., United Grains Company, Bunge Ltd. (BG) and Toepfer also submitted offers but they were rejected because their prices were higher than the ones accepted.

He gave no further details.
