U.S. President Barack Obama on Friday is meeting with the chief
executives of Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Wells Fargo & Co.
(WFC) and U.S. Bancorp (USB) to discuss the economy, a person
familiar with the meeting said.
The meeting, which is taking place Friday afternoon at the White
House, will also include executives from Xerox Corp. (XRX) and
asset manager Blackrock Inc. (BLK), among others.
The White House said earlier in the week that Obama was meeting
with business leaders to discuss the economy but hasn't released a
list of economic attendees.
Josh Earnest, a deputy press secretary at the White House, said
Friday that the meeting will give Obama a chance to "talk to them
about how the economic challenges are affecting their individual
companies, but also their broader sectors."
Earnest also said the president is open to hearing ideas from
the business leaders about how to revive the economy. He said it's
likely that recent gyrations in the stock market will be
discussed.
