Synplicity, Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP), a leading supplier of software for the design and verification of semiconductors, today announced the company has optimized its industry-leading Synplify Pro(R) software to provide support for Actel's new high-density, radiation-tolerant FPGAs. Actel's RTAX4000S device, which offers 4 million system gates for demanding space applications such as satellite payload systems, combines high density with the fast turnaround times associated with FPGAs. The Synplify Pro software enables designers using the RTAX4000S devices in their military and aerospace systems to meet their reliability, performance and time-to-market goals. "Actel is taking radiation-tolerant FPGAs to new levels and we're pleased that our Synplify Pro software has been optimized for their product launch," stated Jeff Garrison, director of marketing for FPGA products at Synplicity. "Complex system designs, like satellites, require highly reliable devices and design tools. Our Synplify Pro software provides a design environment that supports the safety and mission-critical features that are key to high-rel designs while meeting timing and scheduling goals." Ken O'Neill, director, military and aerospace product marketing at Actel Corporation, added, "The RTAX-S family of radiation-tolerant devices offers the industry's most comprehensive radiation-tolerant hardware solution for the military and aerospace community. Our customers who use Synplicity's RTAX4000S-optimized version of the Synplify Pro software in the design of these devices will be able to quickly and easily meet their performance goals." The Synplify Pro software offers designers of these radiation-hardened FPGAs further improvements in single-event upsets (SEU) resistance. Synplicity believes the Synplify Pro software enables users of Actel devices, including RTAX4000S, to obtain a higher level of protection for devices operating in a high-energy, ion-heavy environment. The Synplify Pro software also contains a powerful finite state machine (FSM) compiler that is especially useful in military and aerospace applications. The FSM compiler detects state machines in the RTL source code and implements them with an optimal encoding style based upon timing constraints specified by the user. For high reliability applications, the FSM compiler has a special encoding directive ("safe") that adds logic to ensure that if the state machine ever reaches an invalid state, it is reset. Pricing and Availability Synplify Pro software support for the RTAX4000S device is available now. The Synplify Pro software for Actel is an add-on option to Actel's Libero Platinum product. The Synplify Pro software combines superior quality of results with extremely fast runtimes, ease-of-use and technology independence, helping designers rapidly achieve aggressive performance objectives for today's complex programmable devices. The Synplify Pro tool uses a true timing-driven approach to synthesis and completes designs quicker than other tools by providing fast runtimes and automatic optimization selection. Expert users have additional controls helpful in guiding synthesis for optimum results. The Synplify Pro tool's superior quality of results also allows use of less expensive, lower speed grade components. About Synplicity Synplicity(R) Inc. (Nasdaq:SYNP) is a leading supplier of innovative synthesis, verification and physical implementation software solutions that enable the rapid and effective design and verification of semiconductors. Synplicity's high-quality, high-performance tools significantly reduce costs and time-to-market for FPGA, structured/platform ASIC and cell-based/COT ASIC designers. The company's underlying Behavior Extracting Synthesis Technology(R) (BEST(TM)), which is embedded in its logical, physical and verification tools, and has led to Synplicity's top position in FPGA synthesis, now provides the same fast runtimes and quality of results to ASIC and COT customers. The company's fast, easy-to-use products support industry standard design languages (VHDL and Verilog) and run on popular platforms. Synplicity employs over 280 people in its 20 facilities worldwide. Synplicity is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. For more information visit http://www.synplicity.com.
