The thirteenth annual EagleBank Foundation Fight Against Breast
Cancer Golf and Tennis Classic, held on October 9, 2017, at the
Woodmont Country Club, raised over $430,000—the Foundation’s most
successful fundraiser yet. Proceeds from this event continue
to support research and outreach programs through partnerships with
the following local hospitals and organizations: Shady Grove
Adventist Hospital and Suburban Hospital in Montgomery County, MD,
Providence Hospital and Washington Hospital Center in Washington,
DC, and Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. Other
beneficiaries include The Children’s Inn at The National Institutes
of Health, the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County, Lolly’s
Locks, Hope Connections for Cancer Support, The Breast Cancer
Research Foundation, and the BREM Foundation.
Since the first golf tournament in 2005, the
Foundation has raised over $3.5 million for the benefit of local
area hospitals and organizations in their fight against breast
cancer. These funds have enabled local hospitals and other
cancer-focused organizations in our community to continue ongoing
research and provide support services—all dedicated to eradicating
breast cancer.
“We are delighted that the 2017 Golf and Tennis
Tournament was our most successful event yet, raising over $430,000
to assist in the fight against breast cancer,” commented Don Rogers
(of Shulman Rogers), Chairman of the EagleBank Foundation and a
member of EagleBank’s Board of Directors. “The generous
support from friends and colleagues enables us to financially
assist many cancer-related organizations in our community that make
life a little easier for breast cancer survivors and their
families.”
“Raising public awareness for breast cancer is
so critical, since women are diagnosed each day with the disease,”
commented EagleBank’s Chairman and CEO Ron Paul. “As a local,
community business bank and an involved corporate citizen, raising
funds to help the many worthy cancer treatment and research
facilities in our community has become an important mission and
major focus of the EagleBank Foundation. Our successful
annual golf and tennis tournament has provided a great way to give
back to our community. It could not happen without the
generous donations from countless individuals and local
corporations, and the time and hard work of many dedicated
volunteers over the past 13 years. We sincerely thank
everyone who has helped create awareness, encouraged early
detection that saves lives, and made it possible for us to support
worthy organizations who provide ongoing research, care, and
treatment for those fighting breast cancer.”
