Employees of Crosstex Energy, L.P. (NASDAQ: XTEX) in Dallas, Texas
recently donated more than 3,000 basic need items for homeless
children through Captain Hopes Kids, and the management team
honored their charitable giving with a personal sacrifice of their
own. In order to encourage over 250 employees of Crosstex to
participate in the donation drive, CEO Barry E. Davis and the
senior management team offered themselves up as targets for the
Cream the Senior Management Team event. Departments with 100
percent participation in the drive could elect an employee to throw
a pie in the face of the CEO or another senior management team
member of choice. At the end of the donation drive, Davis and the
entire Crosstex management team willingly took a pie in the face
for a good cause. At Crosstex, our corporate culture is one that
supports and encourages our employees and their activities that
benefit our community, said Davis. Im thankful to the employees
for stepping up to the plate and donating supplies to Captain
Hopes Kids to help homeless children. Im also grateful that our
management team joined in to provide everyone an opportunity to
celebrate and laugh. Captain Hopes Kids, which provides
critically needed supplies to homeless children, will distribute
all items donated by Crosstex employees to its network of homeless
service providers in Dallas, Tarrant and Collin counties. Donations
included diapers, underwear, socks and hygiene items for homeless
children from birth to age 17. Crosstex Energy held a hugely
successful corporate donation drive, and the homeless children
served by Captain Hopes Kids will greatly benefit from the lifes
necessities they collected, says Jada Simpson, program director
for Captain Hopes Kids. The culmination of the donation drive was
one of the messiest and most celebratory Ive ever attended, and I
was blown away by the generosity and spirit of the Crosstex
employees. According to a count by the Metro Dallas Homeless
Alliance, women and children rose to more than half the total
homeless population in Dallas County at 53 percent, compared to 48
percent in 2005. On any given night in North Texas, more than 1,200
children will sleep in homeless and domestic violence shelters. In
the Dallas area, 2/3 of homeless children are younger than 10.
