Cintas Corporation (Nasdaq: CTAS) announced today the appointment of John Barrett to its board of directors, effective immediately. Barrett’s appointment expands the size of Cintas’ board of directors to ten members.

Barrett is the Chairman, President and CEO of Western & Southern Financial Group, a Cincinnati-based diversified family of financial services companies with assets owned and managed in excess of $50 billion. A Fortune 500 company, Western & Southern is one of the eight highest-rated life insurance groups in the world, based on Standard & Poor’s ratings. Under Barrett’s leadership, Western & Southern Financial Group has grown from a $5 billion Midwestern life insurance company into a highly respected national financial services enterprise.

He is co-chairman of The Greater Cincinnati Scholarship Association, chairman of the Medical Center Fund for the University of Cincinnati and is a member of the advisory board of The University of Cincinnati Barrett Cancer Center. Barrett is also actively involved in three organizations in Washington, D.C.: The American Council of Life Insurers (trustee and former chairman), The Financial Services Roundtable (trustee), and The Business Roundtable.
