CalAmp Corp. (NASDAQ: CAMP), a leading
provider of wireless products, services and solutions, will
introduce at the Mobile World Congress Conference and Exhibition in
Barcelona the addition of four new GPRS and HSPA wireless
communications products for Mobile Resource Management (MRM)
applications. These new products will provide CalAmp customers with
robust, reliable wireless data communications for local fleet
management, insurance, trailer tracking, vehicle finance, stolen
vehicle recovery and remote start applications.
CalAmp's new Location Messaging Unit (LMU) and Trailer Tracking
Unit (TTU) products provide global positioning satellite (GPS)
tracking and cellular-based wireless communications capabilities
for monitoring and tracking 12-volt and 24-volt vehicles. The new
products are equipped with low-power 16G-force accelerometers
capable of measuring hard braking, hard acceleration and collision
events. Each product employs CalAmp's pioneering PEG™ (Programmable
Event Generator) and PULS™ (Programming, Update and Logistics
System), the company's industry-leading on-board alert engine and
over-the-air device management and maintenance application,
respectively. The new products also feature an integrated wireless
antenna designed to deliver unrivaled performance and expand
installation flexibility.
These new additions to CalAmp's wireless data communications
product portfolio for MRM include the following:
- LMU-2000 is an easily installed tracking product for fleet
management and insurance markets. The unit plugs into the OBDII
vehicle port to obtain power and ground as well as sense vehicle
on/off state. The LMU-2000 features a 200 mAh back-up battery, a
serial port and no I/O ports.
- LMU-2200 is intended for discreet installation for fleet
management and insurance market applications. The LMU-2200 comes
equipped with a fixed harness, a 200 mAh back-up battery, a
multiplexed serial port and 3 I/O ports.

for fleet management. The LMU-2700 features a connector-equipped
harness, a 1000 mAh back-up battery, 2 switch-powered serial ports,
8 I/O ports, and a 1-wire bus for driver ID and temperature
sensors.
- The TTU-2800 is a water-sealed product designed to meet the
environmental and extended operations requirements of the trailer
tracking and fleet management markets. The TTU-2800 comes equipped
with a fixed harness, a 3800 mAh back-up battery, a multiplexed
serial port and 3 I/O ports.
"At CalAmp we're dedicated to creating value-based products that
deliver on both price and performance for a wide range of solutions
in MRM applications," said Greg Gower, Senior Vice President and
General Manager of CalAmp's MRM business. "Our latest wireless data
communications products offer the added value of measuring actual
driving performance -- speed, braking, cornering, and impact --
giving our customers the ability to identify and correct risky
driving behavior, thereby minimizing driving risk, improving
operating efficiency, protecting their drivers and vehicles, and
reducing overall transportation costs."
