SUWANEE, Ga., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- ARRIS (Nasdaq:
ARRS) today announced that HCN, one of Korea's top cable MSOs, has
deployed the ARRIS DOCSIS® 3.0 C4 CMTS platform, featuring Upstream
Channel Bonding. This will be among the first deployments of
Upstream Channel Bonding (USCB) in Korea and the region, and many
of these early USCB adopters have selected the ARRIS C4 CMTS
platform, for its proven reliability, density and scalability and
its leading edge USCB technology.
The ARRIS DOCSIS 3.0 C4 CMTS solution is capable of delivering
ultra-fast data speeds, along with carrier-grade voice service,
when combined with DOCSIS 3.0-based in home voice and data or
data-only modems. The technology is based on the DOCSIS 3.0
standard that supports both Upstream and Downstream channel bonding
capabilities.
"We plan to implement Upstream Channel Bonded service on the
ARRIS C4 CMTS in addition to 8 Downstream Channel Bonded service,
to deliver ultra high-speed Internet service in excess of 300 Mbp/s
in Q4, 2010," said Mr. Kijeong Kwon,
CTO and Managing Director of HCN. "We feel that this, in
addition to the many new and unique programming choices we are
offering, will help us secure a competitive edge against telco
providers while increasing overall customer satisfaction."
"ARRIS was one of the innovators in the definition of Channel
Bonding during the creation of the DOCSIS 3.0 specification," said
Todd Kessler, VP, Product Management
at ARRIS Broadband Communications Systems, and a frequent speaker
at Asia-Pacific technology
conferences. "Our C4 CMTS solution has been supporting
Downstream Channel Bonding in the field for some time and now, with
expected changes in customer usage, we are very proud to be
delivering greater upstream speeds using Upstream Channel Bonding
for HCN. These technologies will permit HCN and other MSOs to
support anticipated bandwidth demands of the future."
