The Google parent said it was consolidating Brain and DeepMind, two of its artificial intelligence research units, into a single unit called Google DeepMind. The Wall Street Journal reported that Jeff Dean, previously the head of Google research overseeing the Brain team, would assume the new role of chief scientist for the entire company at Google.
